Meet The Coaches

Jackie Power

My name is Jackie Power born in the U.K. to Fermoy mother and New Zealand father. I was a Secondary School teacher in England.

I always spent my summer holidays in Ardmore where I not only learnt to swim, but captured myself a husband, Matthew.

I moved to Fermoy 25 years ago and got involved with the swimming club and worked at Fermoy Leisure Centre. Both my children Mark and Sarah swam competitively with the club.

I hold the IWS Pool Lifeguard Qualification. I hold a UKCC Level 3 Coaching Qualification, UKCC Level 2 Teaching Qualification, Adult and Child Qualification.

I also work for Swim Ireland as a Senior Tutor for Coaching and Teaching Aquatics as well as a Child Protection Tutor. I am also on the Education and Development Committee for Swim Ireland.

Paula Finn

My name is Paula Finn. I am from Killinick, Co. Wexford and moved to Fermoy in 1995 to work at Teagasc, Moorepark.

I am married with two children and they both learned to swim with Fermoy Swimming Club.

I started to teach the Glofish on Friday evenings when I completed my Swim Ireland Level 1 teaching certificate in 2008.

Since then I have completed Level 2 teaching and Level 2 coaching qualifications and coach regularly with the club.

Ken Murphy

My name is Ken Murphy. I live in Watergrasshill with my wife and two children. I work for Musgraves Retail Partners.

I became involved with Fermoy Swimming Club when my two children enrolled in the Learn to Swim program with the club.

I began teaching with the Glofish squad on Friday nights and in time completed my Level 1 and Level 2 teaching certificates.

I then moved forward and completed my Level 1 and Level 2 coaching certificates and am currently coaching with the club.
